Stay-to-Play requires teams to book through the event's official hotel block to participate in the tournament. Book outside it and you can be fined or pulled from competing. The rule guarantees hotels a set number of room nights, which earns the organizer better rates and rebates. Families still earn their hotel points on approved stays.
Enforcement comes down to matching hotel bookings to registration. Tournament organizers link booking confirmations to team rosters, track who's hit their room nights, then deliver a final compliance report. Teams Management automates the match and flags non-compliant teams in real time, so you catch them before the cutoff.
Most stay to play events apply it to teams traveling beyond a set radius, usually 30 to 50 miles. Inside that range, families can stay home. Outside it, teams book from the approved list to stay eligible. Each event sets its own threshold in the tournament rules.
It depends on the event. Common penalties include a non-compliance fee, a spot pulled from the schedule, or removal from the stay to play tournament. Some events offer a paid buyout instead. For housing companies, every non-compliant team is lost room nights and lost commission.
Blockflation is EventPipe's term for teams reserving more rooms than they need. Holds cost nothing, so coordinators grab extra to be safe. The block looks full, but pickup falls short, which kills commission revenue and muddies reconciliation. Teams Management caps each team's rooms to keep it in check.
